New Exhibit to Open at West Virginia Culture Center

Featuring West Virginia native authors’ work

CHARLESTON, WV — West Virginia Archives and History presents “Black Gold, Gilded Wings,” an exhibition opening March 23, in the Archives and History Reading Room at the Culture Center. This exhibition invites visitors to explore the intersection of art, science, and history with the William Henry Edwards Collection. 

Enjoy beautiful lithographs by American artist Mary Peart, along with scrapbooks of her drawing proofs. The exhibit will also feature the research journals of West Virginia-native William Henry Edwards and all three volumes of The Butterflies of North America, printed and hand-colored by the woman-owned Bowen and Company.
